Beatrice Jacobs Seelig

Beatrice grew up in New York and was first educated there, earning a BA from Hunter College and an MA from University of Rochester.

Before moving to Washington state with her family, Beatrice taught school at various levels in New York City and at several universities in New York state in the areas of linguistics and French language.

Beatrice has a strong background in dance having studied with Karen Irvin at Cornish School and Ruthanna Boris at University of Washington.

Her longstanding interest in art lead her to pursue studies in portrait and figure drawing with many artists who have influenced her work, some of whom are Cecilia Cooney-Wickett, Yulia Chubotin, Terry Furchgott, Robert Hoggard, Barbara Fugate, Jeff Flack, Jamie Bollenbach, Juliette Aristedes, and Ellen Eagle.

And most consequential of all, she has devoted hours, hours and more hours drawing professional models at figure drawing studios; hours, hours and more hours drawing people in public places such as airplanes, airports, libraries, gyms, trains, waiting rooms and pubs.

Her work is held in private collections in the United States, New Zealand and Canada.

Beatrice works from her studio in Bellevue, Washington.
